Spirit Lake Cabin is a 3 bedroom spacious cabin nestled on the shores of Grand Lake, the largest natural lake in Colorado. This exquisite cabin has been recently remodeled and can sleep up to 7 guests in comfort, while self catering can be a delight in a fully modernized large kitchen. Grand Lake used to be known by the resident Native Americans as Spirit Lake - the lake is truly calming and relaxing and an excellent way to chill and soothe after a hard run - this charming cabin has wonderful views over the lake to the majestic Rocky Mountains behind. You have a choice of two decks for relaxing, or a private boat dock. The wood panelled interior and rustic furniture and exterior panelling give this cabin an old-world charm that has to be experienced to be believed! A wood burning and a gas fireplace ensure that you can keep warm if the evenings get cooler!
Spirit Lake Cabin has access to lakeside and mountain trails from your doorstep. From the East Shore Trail, choose an easy run to warm up to Shadow Mountain Dam; a longer run to Lake Granby, climb to Shadow Mountain Lookout, with 3.1 miles of climb with an elevation gain of 1,500 feet, or the longest run of more than 25 miles to Roaring Fork Campground and back! If that's not enough for you, you also have Rocky Mountain National Park a few minutes away, and the myriad of trails the park contains - RMNP has been awarded the 2nd place pick as outdoor and adventure destination in the world! Trails are runnable usually from early May through to mid-October.
Spirit Lake Cabin is a few minutes drive from downtown Grand Lake - the town has an old-world charm with a boardwalk either side of the main street, Grand Avenue. The town has a variety of restaurants, antique and art shops, as well as local supermarkets. Nearest airport is Denver International, a 2.5 hour drive to Grand Lake. Grand Lake offers a large variety of other outdoor activities, from kayaking on the lake, fishing, & mountain biking, to catle driving on a local ranch. For triathletes, or runners needing to cool down, the lake is ok for swimming, although a wet suit is useful!
